We had the honor of attending the Little Miss Wheelchair America coronation, cheering on our own Little Miss Wheelchair Michigan as she was crowned Little Miss Wheelchair America. It was an inspiring day filled with joy, determination and community support.
What Little Miss Wheelchair America Stands For
Little Miss Wheelchair America is more than a title. It is a platform that amplifies the voices of young girls who use wheelchairs. The program encourages confidence, leadership, self advocacy and public speaking. Competitors share their personal stories and community goals, and serve as role models for children everywhere. You can find more about the mission and values of the program on the official site
At the coronation event, we were struck by her confidence and poise. She spoke about her desire to help people understand that every child has unique gifts and that accessibility and inclusion matter in everyday life.
It was a joy to see her radiant smile and hear community members celebrating her achievements.
Art and Advocacy Together
She is not only a confident speaker and advocate but also a creative spirit. She was one of the featured artists in our Value by Hopelynd youth art show this past fall. Her artwork was full of color, emotion and originality and reminded all of us that art is a powerful way to express ideas about identity and community.
To revisit the energy of that show and some of the incredible work from our young artists, check out our Value by Hopelynd event.
Looking Ahead
We are proud to support her as she continues to represent Little Miss Wheelchair America. Her courage, creativity and kindness remind us that leadership comes in many forms and that when we lift each other up, we all rise.
Thank you to her family, the Little Miss Wheelchair America organization and everyone who celebrated this moment with us.
